SIMPLEX ADVANTAGE
MECHANICAL & ELECTRICAL ASSEMBLY
All wiremen/women are trained and evaluated in manufacturing best practices used by Simplex System Controls. These best practices consist of using specific wire colors to differentiate purpose (AC vs. DC, power vs. control), using wire markers at both ends of a wire, using terminal block markers, providing service loops and many others. These practices are stressed for the following reasons:
  • Safety First – These practices protect both our employees as well as our customers. Example: an individual will know the purpose of a wire (color coding) and make sure that wire is being connected to the correct end point (wire markers and terminal block markers).

  • Serviceability – Even the best laid plans may require changes upon installation or requirement changes. The practice of using service loops allows these changes to be made easily, without having to totally replace a wire.

  • Cost Containment – The repeated use of the same practices enables Simplex to build and test panels faster, which reduces our labor cost, which in turn reduces the cost of panels to our customers. It also helps our customers install and service panels with less labor hours, which once again contain costs.

Simplex employs the concept of work cells that aligns specific wiremen/women with customer jobs. These individuals are trained and well versed in specific customer requirements and practices. This approach provides two key benefits:

  • In reference to best practices, some of our customers have different standards for the color of wire used or some other aspect of panel construction. These individuals make sure the customer’s standards are followed. This practice assures consistency in final product for every customer.

  • Since these individuals are familiar with a customer’s panel design and specific practices, panels are manufactured in less time and the labor savings are passed on to our customers.
